About the cheapest that you can bury someone is $6000.00. Cremation is usually between $500-$1000 but the cost can go up if you decide on expensive options or if you decide to inter the ashes.
Reply:Your local council will tell you the cost of a cremation, it varies across the country.

You can buy a cardboard coffin for £150 and take it to the crematorium yourself.

Total cost will be less than £500

If you want an undertaker to do it for you and you want a wooden coffin, pallbearers, extra car and flowers then you are lookiing at £1500-2000.

Again this depends on which part of the country you are in.

No harm in getting quotes from two or three undertakers because their fees vary.
Reply:Check out the following link for a very detailed cost analysis!

Also worth noting is that, if you get in touch with your local funeral director and arrange your funeral now (ie pick your coffin, crem or burial, cars, etc) you can pay it off now and then you don't have to pay anything else for as long as you live ... if you see what I mean! Even if you live another 80 years, your funeral is paid for and your family won't have anything to pay out on your death. That's in the UK though, don't know about the rest of the world.
Reply:The last time I had anything to do with a funeral (close to 15 years ago, for my great aunt), the total bill was $6,000 or so. I'm sure it's gone up a LOT in 15 years, so I'll "guesstimate" $7,500 or so. It was a Christian-based funeral at the cemetery itself. The casket alone was about $3,700 - I'm sure glad we Jews stick with plain pine boxes :-)

A good book on death (weird topic, but...) is "Caring for the Dead: Your Final Act of Love" by Lisa Carlson. It discusses laws state by state - amazing what is NOT required :-)
Reply:My dad was cremated last year and with the options we selected it was still around $6000 for cremation and viewing. Flowers were another $350.

Edit**Thumbs down for how people decided to handle a family members death. Nice. Even I'm not that b**chy.
Reply:Pallbearers are usually male family members.
Reply:if you a brit then average one anything from £2000...if you having problems the dss can give you a grant towards costs,it not much...deathly cost
Reply:$6,000 from some commercial from Colonneial (spelling) Penn.
Reply:Probably about £1500 to £2000 but you wont get much more for that.
Reply:My father in law died last year. The total bill came to $9230.
Reply:I'm going to say $10-20,000
Reply:just done one a month ago coop £2405
