Advice on flowers?

Hiya, i am not the biggest fan of flowers in general (they mostly remind me of funerals!:-) so i am looking for flowers for my wedding that are cheerful, fun and not too serious. I saw these lovely ones in Oz last year, singapore orchids- they were turquoise at the base and came out purple at the top- sooo unusual! I want to have my bridesmaids in Turquoise or Teal and am getting married in December. I live in Ireland %26amp; have no idea what is in season or maybe i could get them shipped over by interflora? Any advice is really appreciated:)
Advice on flowers?
Thornless roses, carnations and lilies. Choose to match with your wedding colours. Orchids will cost well into 4 figures.
Reply:Your Orchids sound wonderful! They would certainly be spectacular with your bridesmaids in a toning colour?

I would contact a florist real soon, and explain to them what you want exactly. Then they can pre order the Orchids for you in time for your wedding day.

You may also be able to get them shipped direct by Interflora?

Whatever the case i would find out now, so you know what time scale you are looking at for ordering.

Good luck with your wedding plans.

PS: I would avoid Lillies, as their orange stamens stain quite badly and the last thing you want on your wedding photo's is a stained wedding dress from the lillies?
Reply:well, kind of a strange question, but first of all Orchids are gorgeous and come in several color combinations. Also, Lily's a beautiful as a wedding flower, also, white (pure) and to keep fancy level down and price down as well. I was at a wedding a few years ago and they used "greenery" all around the church. Mainly these huge ferns, they were very simple, yet elegant.

Good Luck in your Marriage
Reply:Orchids do tend to be in season all year round. You can ring your local flower market to get them in stock for you in advance...no need to worry about interflora. You idea sounds lovely. Even white moth orchids will stand out so beautifully against your bridesmaid dresses!
Reply:ok these are some georgous ones , Fusias, pansys (you can get big or small flower heads in loads of colurs I sugest small heads in pink or white) and orkids are great ,if you live near a wehyvele garden center they have loads of georgous orkids and other plants !
Reply:If you want flowers to not remind you of a funeral, it's all about the color(s) that you choose. Stick with hot pink, orange (coral) and yellow. Those are all happy colors.

I really like gerbera daisies. They're fun and pretty and come in bright colors. :D
Reply:simple is in style nowadays in ireland

not too ott or tacky !!

lilys are very in style now and i think white ones with pink in the middle are the best and very pretty add a touch of colour and suit the bridesmaids dresses

!!! :)
Reply:You can find flowers in ANY season. Most flowers are imported anway...Well, to the U.S. they are. I'm not sure of any companies but I know if you search you can find some. It must be beautiful to live in Ireland.

What is going to happen to the flowers after your wedding? If you don't give them to guests you might want to donate the flowers to an old folks home or hospice.
Reply:Avoid Lilies and Orchards they are a bad omen, hence why theryre used at funerals so often, since the victorian days, some ppl wont have them in the house
Reply:Orchid's are my favorite. They ARE pink, but they go with a lot. The right kind can almost look fake, but the right kind is sooo pretty, especially in water. =)
Reply:Just one little piece of advice; make sure what ever flower you decide on, MAKE SURE it will be in season at the time of your wedding.

...and CONGRATS!

:D
Reply:I suggest you plant roses. My mom has a bunch of roses she planted, and their so pretty!
